ISRAEL ÁLVAREZ

Israel Álvarez is an architect who graduated with Honors from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in 2002. Throughout his career, he has collaborated independently with some of Mexico’s most recognized architectural practices, working on projects of various scales and typologies.

Between 2007 and 2009, he worked in Basel, Switzerland, at Herzog & de Meuron, the Pritzker Prize–winning firm, where he participated in major international projects, including the extension of the Tate Modern in London and the new exhibition building for Art Basel in Switzerland.

In 2009, he won the competition for the Mexican Pavilion at Expo Shanghai 2010. In 2013, he was awarded the Silver Medal and an Honorable Mention at the First Mexico City Architecture Biennial.

In 2017, he was invited by Harvard University to lecture at the symposium Landscape as Urbanism in the Americas, and in the same year participated in a collective exhibition at the Chicago Architecture Biennial.

Since 2009, he has been a professor at the Faculty of Architecture at UNAM, combining professional practice with teaching and academic reflection.

MARIANA TELLO

Mariana Tello is an architect who graduated from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). In 2003, she pursued studies in design, aesthetics, and the interpretation of architecture through the visual arts at the University of Buenos Aires.

Beginning in 2005, she worked as a project leader at Tatiana Bilbao Estudio, where she was responsible for the Mexico Pavilion at Expo Zaragoza 2008, overseeing the development of the project in both Mexico and Spain.

In 2009, she won the competition for the Mexican Pavilion at Expo Shanghai 2010, leading both the design and construction of the project. She was awarded the Silver Medal and an Honorable Mention at the First Mexico City Architecture Biennial for the projects Divino Narciso Auditorium and Zapote Restaurant.

In 2017, she was invited by Harvard University to lecture at the symposium Landscape as Urbanism in the Americas, and in the same year participated in a collective exhibition at the Chicago Architecture Biennial.
